5/17/12 Planting Broccoli, Onions and Potatoes

Broccoli and Onion plants were started in the greenhouse in 6 pack pots in early April.
In May they are transplanted to garden.

We had just had 3" of rain so the soil is rather muddy. The first time a new garden gets wet the water does not soak into the soil very well. The next rain will not create the muddy conditions and will be easier to work in.

The girls planting onions did not mind the mud. They took off their shoes and went right to work.

Trowels and knee pads for planting.
 Grass clipping to mulch onions.
 Trenches for the potatoes.
Young potato plants.
